To add to the list (power consumption measured with Avi's):
    Farallon EtherWave:
    Standby - almost nothing.
In use - draws about 65 mA.

    D-Link DE-660+
    Standby - almost nothing.
In use - draws about 80 mA.

I would expect the 3Com Etherlink III to be about the same as the
Farallon since they are the same card (3Com made both) with the Farallon
having a slightly different ROM.

I haven't run across any ethernet cards that come close to the Newton's
limit to supply power, but some modems (3Com/USR 28.8 and 33.6 models in
particular) can draw a lot of power.
An MP2100 (mine anyway) seems to pull about 50-60 mA rising to 80-90 mA
with the backlight on. I think the PCMCIA slot's limit is somewhere around
300 mA. So, if Avi's or Battery Counter show total power usage over 400 mA
then you're probably into territory where the unexpected can happen.
