Hmm well first remove the battery, and plug in the adapter. And if that
don't work then hit the rest. Somtimes when the power level really gets
low, newtons lock up like that and you have to remove the batteries and just
use the adapter to "jump start" them. At least it always did for me. And
once in a great while hit the reset to get it started.

Another thing to try is do a hard reset with holding down the power switch
while hitting the reset buttion. This will bring up the 'do you want to
delete everything" message, it won't delete anything untill you say yes. So
it is safe to try. And it might "jump start" it if nothing else works.
