I'll preface this with saying that I've never seen an eMate keyboard, but
on most keyboards I've seen, there is a small piece of wire under the
space bar so they will press down evenly, even if you press on one side.
It sounds to me like that small wire is not where it should be on one
side. I'd carefully pry the space bar off and try to reinstall it
properly. Usually the wire looks something like this:
___ ___
| |
|________________________|

And you just have to make sure that the little "ears" at the top are
sliding in the guides on the space bar. Also, there are sometimes little
springs under the space bar, so be careful that they don't jump out when
you remove the bar.
