Re: [NTLK] New mp with "the jaggies"

I had the jaggies on my primary Newt (a ump2k). It
started out manageable and for a year, I could live
with the business card and the chassis twisting (when
I made that observation on this list years ago, old
timers then were aghast that I would do such a thing
to a Newt...until someone tried it)
There are two types of Jaggies, software induced and
hardware induced. If it's software induced, you can
usually remove the offending app (or apps) and your
newt will be fine. BUT! If its hardware induced,
experience tells me that it will just lead to a long
road of frustration that is not worth going down
(partial reason I needed to send my Newt into
Apple...some of the falls from great heights weren't
accidental!).
After my Newt was literally falling apart in my hands,
I gave in and had Apple rebuild it. Good thing too
because even though my physical and electronic s/n
matched my original Newt, everything else was
replaced. It came back brand spanking new! It was
completly refurbished for $180 and it makes my now new
newt a pleasure to use. I had forgotten how useful it
was and was even contemplating a WinCE device until my
wife reminded me that my Newt is more than an
"electronic device" when she referred to it as my
spare brain...(she's technology illiterate. She still
uses a bound daytimer;-P
I was hoping to get this newt as a backup, but if it's
already experiencing the Jaggies, I don't want to put
up with it...I'ld rather not even have a backup! (I
have a v-e-r-y short fuse when things that are
supposed to work don't...electronic devices know
better than to p*ss me off!)
So, my only recourse is to return the Newt for a
replacement...I have 3 days and there's no reason to
put up with a potential problem child...
