Its so easy, but you probably cannot see the would because of the huge amount of trees...

If you look carefully to the bar on top of the ToDo list you will find a checkbox doing exactly what you are searching for.
The same is true for dates/appointments.

my last question today (I promise ;-) )

When I set a todo in At A Glance at 'completed' it dissappears from my
AAG-list. I was really sure there was a preference somewhere to change
this behaviour. I feel really stupid but I can't find it anywhere.

Could someone point me in the right direction?
