Actually, Michael, an "Aggie" is someone who attends ANY college or
university which has an agricultural science focus. These are excellent
public land grant schools and they are quite common across the Unites
States - along with use of the term "Aggie". Although it is not a
particularly attractive word to the eye or ear, Aggie is neither intended=

to be - nor need it be - derogatory when applied to those associated with=

most such ag schools. I say "most" advisedly because of THE singular
excpetion: Texas Agricultural and Mechanical (Texas A&M). In that
unfortunate instance, there are reasons for derogation too numerous to
pursue here. =

While an A&M alumnus is quite proud to be an Aggie (and what Texan isn't
proud!), the term "Aggie" is usually used in a derogatory context,
especially for telling jokes about the lack of intellectual capacity.
