What do you get? A sequence of dial tones according to the number you want to dial or only a single tone?
If you have a digital phone network the tone dial will not work of course, this will work only in analogue telephone networks.

For some reason I can never dial a phone using the Newt's speaker. I
tell the Newt to dial using the speaker and then hold it near the mic
on the phone. All I get is a dial tone. I am missing something?
