So it seems that the actual system ROM version and the installed patches
play a certain role in determining the amount of RAM available.
My factory 2100 (german NOS) shows in Extras / Info / Memory Info:

ROM-version D-2.1 (747129)-0
4020k installed system RAM

I will have a look this evening what my US MP 2000 will show, but it will be
definitely less.
