btw, in an attempt to quantify the problem, I pinged my newton with
increasing packet sizes ('ping -s n' in the shell, where n is the packet
size in bytes). I got as far as 214 bytes until the Newton started to
drop packets.

Interesting. If I could tweak the MTU for the IP stack to about 200
bytes, I could still use this card ;)
