Hello,

Well, it seems we have 3 kinds of people here.

  Those that like the iPod.

  Those that hate it.

And those that hate Jobs and Apple and will continue to do so until the
day they die.

I see the iPod like this.

It is a beautiful and elegant device. While it doesn't have the absolute
highest storage capacity it has, for all intents and purposes, plenty for
everyone. I have 32 Gigs of MP3s at 320k and I think 5 gigs is plenty for
music. (and no 640k jokes please)

It has the tightest integration with the OS of any MP3 player.

It has the best and most thought out user interface of any MP3 player. No
dozens of buttons or 2 line readouts here.

It has the fastest transfer rate of any MP3 player. And yes that is
important when talking about 5 gigs of space.

It can be used as a portable hard drive.

It can charge while transferring files or music.

It comes with a power adapter.

It has 20 MINUTE skip protection and since the hard drive only has to spin
up a few times every hour it heads almost always stay parked. And
protected.

It has @ 10 hours of usability between charging. And a special quick
charging ability also.

And one thing I have yet to see anyone mention. It uses FireWire.
FireWire does not need a computer to do transfers, unlike USB. So maybe you
can transfer images and movies from your camera or camcorder to it also. So
not only is it a FireWire drive, it is a chargeable FireWire drive.

Did I mention that it is beautiful?

Some people do not like it. That is fine.

Some people do like it. That is fine also.

Neither group is going to change the other's minds. This is fine also.

The marketplace will determine whether or not it is a success.

  I think it will be.

And I think it is another great reason to own a Mac.

David
