Ok,
I was playing around with my MacOS X's modem settings (in
particular what modem scripts were available). I noticed
several scripts used to connect to the internet using IR
enabled mobile phones like the ericsson Rxxx series and the
T39, as well as "nokia_ir" and the ir modem adaptor for the
ericsson T28w.

Since these scripts have already been made by apple, how
feasable is it for us (well some gifted newton programmers
anyway) to import them to the newton and have (finally)
internet over IR ?
