no, you don't need any package for SER-001 to operate but as you
noted, it is not available any more. do you have a friend with
Newton? you could save the data on flash card and transfer it to
desktop from antoher machine. anyway, Apple will repair the broken
interconnect port and anything else for roughly $200 flat fee.
