Hey William,
You have read correctly. I run Yellow Dog on my iBook 600 (late 2001). It
took a bit to get the sound working, but with a little help its working now.
I still run under X.1 most of the time, but it is nice to have KDE up and
running well on the PPC.

I believe that you can run that PB easily under Yellow Dog. Check their
hardware support page for more info:
