But record companies and artists do have powerful lobbys, and
associations, and this is how the prices or recordable media have been
increased (by adding special gov't levies), at least in Canada. There is
a flat-rate levy on blank cassettes and CD-Rs - it has driven tapes up
quite a bit in the past while, but doesn't seem to have affected CD-Rs
yet.
