[NTLK] Newton Press

I am using Newton Press on my NT4.0 box at work. I have Macs at home but
have not had a chance to play with Newton Press at home yet.

In a nutshell you can paste nearly anything into this little app and then
save it as a newton book (.pkg file) and it even has a connection feature
that allows you to install it straight from Newton Press.

With a lowly 120 for the longest time the only way I knew to get text from
my PC to my Newton was to use NCU and the keyboard paste feature that allows
you to paste text into a newton note. But this was limited to something
like 5000 characters (including spaces) and consequently was only good for
short articles or notes.

Then I found Newton Press and I can paste as much text as I like along with
1 bit (b/w) images! I can copy all of the text from a web site and any
important picts (which I paste into LViewPro (or any other graphics program)
and change the color depth to b/w (1 bit) and viola... a newton book that I
can install via Newton Press to read later when I get a chance.

The other neat feature was creating newton books of picts that are able to
be used as backdrops for AVI. I found the directions on This Ole Newt
http://members.aol.com/_ht_a/thisolnewt/html/hints/index.html and now I have
a pict of my vanagon westfalia to remind me to do my work so I can go out
and play.

I am using Newton Press to replace web surfing on my newton by making books
of long articles on my desktop and then reading them when I get a chance...
not quite surfing but close enough for now.

Keep the Green-

A tutorial on what you've done w/ Newton Press would be very interesting.
I've got Newton Press sitting on my Mac, but haven't really given it much of
a look.
