[NTLK] Thanks, Rich!! (was: New Version of NewtonTalk available now (2nd announcement)

I just wanted to point out that if it had not been for Rich's foresight to
setup the NewtonTalk2 Emergency List (done during the first major NTLK
outage), it is very likely that we would not be where we are today, i.e.,
still a cohesive group with a large volume of correspondence.

Rich has also received a LOT of unwarranted heat as evangelist for a new
server, or even the use of his emergency list while the Planet Newton NTLK
list was still up. In retrospect, he was a prophet of what was to come.
Again, without his persistence in championing the search for alternatives,
and his graciousness when the alternative chosen was the NewtonTalk.net
services, we, as a group, would probably be scattered to the four winds.

So...Thanks, Rich! Your persistence, hard-headedness, and innate ability
to absorb abuse and still come out swinging made a difference for all of us!
NewtonTalk2 is always available in case of an outage of the primary list,
but is otherwise quiet. I encourage all users reading this to subscribe to
the NewtonTalk2 list to be prepared for any possible contingency in the
future.

Regards,

Gary

The new private server is up and running.

That means that this list which was originaly an emergency list will go back
to being dormant some time Friday evening. If ever there is an outtage with
the new list we will rise again. You will get test posts and reminders from
this list from time to time.
This message will be sent several times.
