I've run into a strange problem I hope someone can shed some light on - trying
to get an internet connection via modem and ISP fails with a message to the
effect "Can't establish link. PPP negotiation failed. Error -60015". This is
with several modems and ISPs that had all worked fine up till a month ago.

I've made two configuration changes since that time - first acquiring an
ethernet card and then installing SER-001. Unfortunately the ethernet
connection worked so well I didn't check the modem connection till just now.

However both the keyboard and dock still work with both dongle and SER-001,
so it's hard to believe this is a hardware problem. Maybe something got
messed up when I started using the ethernet card (the 3C589D) ???
This is a 2100, btw.

I've deleted the NIE ethernet components and re-installed fresh copies of
the internet enabler and modem-serial package, and tried the 20 second reset
without effect.

The error code list (from www.lunatech.com/research/newton/errors/) shows
-60015 is kInetToolErrOutOfPhase
Does anyone know what this means? or have any ideas about tweaking or
deleting any data structures which might clear the problem. I guess as a last
resort I could do a hard reset, but I wonder if restoring from backup would
restore the problem as well.

any help appreciated.
