How did u get Apple Aust. to replace it for free? Was it still under the
extended warranty?

Australian law dictates that a company must keep spare parts for obsolete
equipment for a period of 10 years, which may explain why an exchange 2x00
from Apple here is over $1,800.00 (and a keyboard $320.00).

I would have assumed that that is what they would have charged you.
