I would just like to add that a midi port on the newton is not
necessary. using the serial out you could connect to a translator
(cheap!) like the opcode one ( it has 1 midi in and three outs plus a
serial in and thru).

All we need here is an extension of musicpad. the program obviously
knows which note is which when it plays the tone. what is needed is
to give each tone the midi hex-decimal value and the ablitity to port
this to a desktop program for either printing, playing or whatever.

i'm not a programmer, but i think that this would give what we're looking for.
