(words outlining David's feeling that the information

Since David does not feel the need to be compensated or credited in way
for the techniques or knowledge behind the backlight replacement service
then Mr. Ozguner is doing nothing other than providing a service which
we can choose to use or not.

Via ebay, I asked him what I would actually be buying if I were to bid
on his information item. He replied that the auction was indeed just a
means of advertising the fact that he will replace Newton backlights. If
someone were to actually place a bid, I didn't get the impression that
the transaction would be carried out, but I didn't ask him that directly.

Frankly, I didn't like the fact that someone was trying to profit from
somebody else's work. BSD does work this way, but even with BSD there is
this notion that those benefiting heavily from BSD should also be
"giving back", but it is not required.

The auction itself sounded kind of shady, but it appears I was jumping
to conclusions, and since David doesn't care about his ideas being used
for a "for fee" service, I guess there's no harm.
