I really don't think that the Proxim driver is a hack of the Farallon
driver. For one, the Proxim driver is an 80K package while the Farallon
one is around 10K. Second, Farallon never made any hardware compatiable
with Proxim's RangeLAN2 system.

Maybe you were thinking of the 3Com card hacks?
